Toni Bou has a chance to clinch his 37th world title, and Gabriel Marcelli aims for a place on the podium.

This Saturday, Repsol Honda HRC take on the sixth round of the X-Trial World Championship season in Wiener Neustadt (Austria). It comes off the back of a brilliant performance in Norway, where Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli achieved a spectacular one-two finish. With two rounds remaining of the 2025 campaign, the event will be decisive in the fight for the title.

Toni Bou is currently the series leader, thanks to four victories from the five races contested so far. This weekend he has his first chance to mathematically seal his 37th world title. For this to happen, the Repsol Honda HRC rider will have to win and his closest rival, Jaime Busto, finish in third position or lower. This would give the Montesa Cota 4RT rider a 19th indoor crown.

Gabriel Marcelli was second in Norway and third in Barcelona, allowing him to enter the fight for the top spots in the championship. Currently, he occupies third position in the overall standings, with 51 points. He is still targetting a first race win as one of his goals for 2025. In 2023, the last time that the TR1 riders traveled to Austria, Marcelli was outside the Top 3 on raceday.

The Austrian X-Trial will take place this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. (local time).

Toni Bou

Championship: 1st

"I'm looking forward to the weekend. We've taken advantage of this month off to work on our fitness, and I think we're in good shape. We've also been able to try new things on the bike and I'm very motivated. It's the first opportunity to clinch the title mathematically, but as it isn't 100% in my hands, my goal will be to get a good result and maintain the mentality of working race by race -which is what works best for us."

Gabriel Marcelli

Championship: 3rd

"It's been a necessary month off, in which we have done a 'preseason,' since with the X-Trial Championship starting so early we didn't have time to prepare our fitness and bike setup. The last time we raced in Austria it was a very good trial for the spectators, so I hope the sections will be at a good level. I'm looking forward to it and am motivated, since we've worked very well with the team. It will be important to qualify for the final and be able to fight for a good result."

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

"After the incredible result in Norway, with Toni and Gabri in first and second place, the team are eager to continue achieving successes. Toni will have the first mathematical opportunity to take his 37th world title, so it will be a decisive weekend where it will be important to be very focused. Gabri has shown great progress in recent races, and we trust that he will continue in this way to be able to be on the podium at each remaining event."
