Toni Bou wins and Gabriel Marcelli finishes second in the Italian round.

The second day of action Ponte di Legno marked the end of the first half of the 2026 X-Trial World Championship season, and was another outstanding day for Repsol Honda HRC. They secured their fourth one-two finish of the year, with Toni Bou taking the win and Gabriel Marcelli placing second.

Bou started the first round spectacularly, on a circuit with a slight modification to the sections compared to Friday. He cleaned the entire lap, to earn first place and a direct berth in the final, alongside Marcelli and Harry Hemingway. In Super Pole, Bou also set the fastest time with a 0:53.3, which allowed him to start last in the final.

In the decisive run, the Repsol Honda HRC rider was once again unstoppable. The level of difficulty increased considerably, and his rivals didn’t make it easy for him, but the Montesa Cota 4RT rider overcame them and some physical discomfort to secure the 95th victory of his indoor racing career -and his fifth of the season. With 95 points in the overall standings and a 23-point lead over his closest rival, Bou heads into the Christmas break with a very comfortable advantage in the title chase.

For Marcelli, Saturday’s first round was closer than the previous day’s, and the Montesa Cota 4RT rider showed improved form. With only 2 penalty points, he claimed second place, qualifying directly for the final. In Super Pole, where any mistake can prove costly, he set a time of 1:04.6, which put him second-to-last in the order for the final.

Marcelli took risks at key points to make the difference in the final. After an intense battle, he achieved second place, and remains in that position in the overall standings. He has 72 points, 10 ahead of Jaime Busto, who failed to qualify for the final on Day 2 in Ponte di Legno.

Repsol Honda HRC will enjoy a break of over a month in duration, before returning to action on January 24th in Leeds (United Kingdom), where the second half of the season will begin.

Toni Bou

Championship: 1st

“It’s been a perfect weekend and we couldn’t ask for more. I achieved two consecutive victories, which are very important for the championship. I’m also happy with how I feel physically, which is better than expected. The work we’ve done since Reunion Island is paying off, and for the moment, we’ll continue in the same vein. Now we have a little over a month before the next race, so it’s a good time to rest. I’m leaving Italy with my objective achieved, and I want to thank the team for their great work.”

Gabriel Marcelli

Championship: 2nd

“I’m leaving Ponte di Legno with a very good feeling. Today I felt better in terms of my riding, right from the start, so I’m happy. In the final, I struggled with a couple of slightly trickier sections, but we did a great job throughout the weekend. This result is very important for the overall standings, where we remain in second place with a good lead over Jaime. Now we’ll take advantage of this month to rest a bit before the next race, which will be in January.”

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

“This weekend in Italy has been incredible. Today we achieved another one-two finish, our fourth of the year, and I’m very happy with all the team’s work. Toni was amazing today, completing the first round with zero penalty points and having a very strong final. He’s extended his lead in the overall standings and is gradually recovering physically. As for Gabri, he looked more comfortable on the bike today, and the results reflected that. He achieved another podium finish, and Jaime’s absence from the final gives him a small advantage in the championship, which is important. Now we have a short break, which we’ll use to rest and come back stronger for the next race.”
