Toni Bou leads the standings after two consecutive victories. Gabriel Marcelli is fourth with 24 points.
This Sunday, the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona hosts the 47th edition of one of the most emblematic events on the X-Trial World Championship calendar. The Repsol Honda HRC riders arrive at the fourth round of the season ready to put on a show for the fans. Currently, Toni Bou heads the standings with 35 points, while teammate Gabriel Marcelli occupies fourth position.
It will be a very special weekend for Bou, who will be riding at his home event. The Montesa Cota 4RT rider has 17 wins in indoor competition in Barcelona, winning ever edition since 2020 along the way, and he will aim to continue this run of results -as well as the streak of two victories in the two most recent rounds this season.
Marcelli wants to improve the results he took at the last race held in Clermont-Ferrand, where he was fifth. Since his first participation in the Palau Sant Jordi in 2020, the Galician rider has achieved very good results in the Barcelona event with three podiums. He is still looking for his first victory in the indoor series.
The action will start at 5pm local time at the Palau Sant Jordi on Saturday.
Toni Bou
“The Barcelona race is very special for me, I have a lot of good memories and I hope to put on a good show on Sunday for the public. Jaime is making things difficult this year, so it is important to get a good result and qualify directly for the final. We are going with the mentality of race by race but obviously you always have one eye on the championship. The objective at the Palau Sant Jordi will be to get the 18th victory."
Gabriel Marcelli
“I come to the Palau Sant Jordi with a good feeling and confident after achieving victory in the Spanish Championship last weekend. It will be important to qualify directly for the final and try to get a good result. We are taking things race-by-race, and we will try to climb positions in the standings, since there is still half of the season left. The fans always support us a lot, so we are looking forward to putting in a good performance.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“The race at the Palau Sant Jordi is one of the most special on the calendar. Toni arrives in top form with two consecutive victories in France and leading the standings, so this weekend he will try to top the podium. Gabri did not get a good result at the last race finishing fifth after not qualifying for the final. It will be important for him to do well, as in the standings he is currently fourth.”
