The Repsol Honda HRC team face one of the key rounds of the season determined to keep up their dominance.
This weekend sees one of the most anticipated events on the 2026 X-Trial World Championship calendar take place. The Palau Sant Jordi will host the seventh round of the season in Barcelona, and the Repsol Honda HRC riders arrive leading the overall standings. Toni Bou holds first place with 115 points, followed by teammate Gabriel Marcelli with 81.
Bou is the undisputed leader of the standings, with a 34-point advantage over his closest rival. The Repsol Honda HRC rider has five wins and one second-place finish so far this season. The 38-time World Champion boasts an incredible record of victories at the sport’s ‘Cathedral’, with a total of 19 wins. Bou’s goal for this weekend is to fight for another victory in his home race.
Marcelli approaches the Barcelona event aiming to fight for the top positions in the race, after finishing fourth in the last round held in Leeds (United Kingdom). The Montesa Cota 4RT rider, who currently sits in second place in the overall standings, has fond memories of the Palau Sant Jordi, where he achieved a solid third place last season. Marcelli has been highly consistent so far in this edition of the X-Trial World Championship.
The action at the Palau Sant Jordi this Sunday begins at 5pm.
Toni Bou
“Coming to my home race as the World Championship leader is very special. Barcelona is a very important race for me, as it is in front of the home fans and at a venue like the Palau Sant Jordi, which has given me so many unforgettable moments. The season has been very positive and the team are performing very well. We know it will be a tough race, with the competition at the highest level, but the goal is to achieve another victory. I'm really looking forward to this race, and want to put on a good show for the fans and secure my nineteenth victory at home.”
Gabriel Marcelli
“I’m approaching the weekend with a lot of motivation, especially after the race in Leeds where I didn’t quite find my best feeling, so I’m really looking forward to the race at the Palau Sant Jordi. The goal is the same as at the beginning of the season: to win. I’d love to be able to achieve it in a race as special as this one in Barcelona, in front of my home crowd. We’ve worked hard these past few weeks to come here in the best possible condition. I have a comfortable points tally that gives me some peace of mind, but we can’t get complacent and we’ll give it our all.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“This weekend is one of the key events of the season, and we're going into it with Toni and Gabri leading the standings, which is very positive for the team. Toni has his home race and leads the series with 34 points, demonstrating the great season he's having. Despite not getting onto the podium in Leeds, Gabri is also in excellent form, with very consistent results. The Palau Sant Jordi is a special venue for us, and we know it will be a demanding race, but our goal is to achieve a one-two finish.”
