The Repsol Honda rider takes a clean sweep of victories for the third consecutive round in 2025. Gabriel Marcelli narrowly misses out on the podium on Day 2.

The TrialGP of Corsica concluded its debut in the town of Calvi with a decisive Sunday, in which the level of demand and the closeness between the competitors defined the event. After two days of action in high temperatures and with high-grip zones, Toni Bou emerged with a double victory, while Gabriel Marcelli finished in fourth place.

On the first lap of the day, Bou once again demonstrated his ability to make the difference in key moments. Although there was a close battle at the start, with the top three riders separated by just one point, it was in the more technical and demanding final zones where Bou brought out his best. With little room for error, he completed the lap with just three penalty points, securing another victory and adding 20 points in the overall standings.

In the afternoon, the second race was even more demanding. With four runs through the same sections over the weekend, many of his rivals had learnt the zones very well. However, Bou once again prevailed on a very tight lap. He racked up five consecutive cleans in the first sections, but two consecutive errors in the final part of the course meant his eventual victory came just one point ahead of second-placed Jaime Busto. The Montesa Cota 4RT rider has now taken six consecutive race wins.

Gabriel Marcelli started the day’s first race with a good pace, although two errors in Zones 3 and 9 prevented him from remaining in contention for the podium. Despite this, he remained focused and managed to finish fourth, very close to the leaders.

In the second race, he wasn’t able to turn things around. Although he showed more solid riding and adapted to the terrain, he was involved in a very close battle with Matteo Grattarola for third place, which was decided in the final section in favour of the Italian, due to a tie on points but a better score. Ultimately, Marcelli finished fourth overall.

After this intense weekend in Calvi, the TrialGP World Championship reaches the halfway point of the season. Toni Bou leads the overall standings with 322 points, while Gabriel Marcelli is in third position with 230. The series holds its next round next week in San Marino, which returns to the calendar after its last appearance in 2023.

Toni Bou

Championship: 1st

"I'm very happy. After yesterday, which went so well, it's always difficult to start again from scratch. The first lap was incredible, with only three penalty points, and I felt very good on the bike. I also felt comfortable on the second lap, although I made a couple of mistakes and the victory was a bit difficult for me to get. I'm in very good form at this point of the season, earning many points. I want to thank the team because they're working very well in tough circumstances. Different areas are expected in San Marino, with some of them indoors, which I always enjoy a lot, and we'll approach them with great enthusiasm."

Gabriel Marcelli

Championship: 3rd

"I'm not happy with how we did today. I didn't feel good all day. I was close to the podium positions, even tied with Matteo, but I didn't quite finish it off and made several mistakes, especially on the second run. For the next race, I'll have to work harder and not lose focus at all, because today I picked up penalty points that affected me significantly at the end of the day. For San Marino, I won't give up at any time and I'll have to trust in myself a little more."

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

"Today we were able to close out another very positive day. Toni was able to overcome the toughest sections and shone in both the first and second races. It's great that we can go into the next race with two more wins, as they mean important points in the championship. Gabri, on the other hand, couldn't quite put everything together to get on the podium. Section 3 was quite decisive in both races, where he picked up two fives that cost him the chance to reach the podium. He didn't have a good feeling and ended up finishing fourth. It's a shame because he's at the right level to fight for the podium in every race, but he's not quite making the step up. The positive side is that we're gaining points. Next weekend in San Marino, we'll be looking to be at the top with both riders."
