The Montesa Cota 4RT rider continues on top of the overall standings, as Gabriel Marcelli finishes in fifth position.

The final day of the Italian TrialGP was held in Valsassina on Sunday, and the Repsol Honda Trial Team riders had a difficult time. Toni Bou took second position and teammate Gabriel Marcelli was fifth.

Intense rain the previous day meant that some parts of the route remained muddy, which added extra difficulty with slippery obstacles. Bou pulled out in front on the first lap with 22 points, but the first round with 22 points. On the second lap, the Repsol Honda rider did not have a good feeling across the 12 zones and, after four consecutive fives, came home in second place.

It was also a tricky day for Marcelli and, during the first lap, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider was fighting for the podium positions. He was fourth on the opening run, just one point behind Matteo Grattarola. The second time around, he was still not completely comfortable with the conditions and made mistakes that he was unable to recover from. He placed fifth, one point behind Adam Raga in fourth place.

Bou maintains his lead in the overall standings with 117 points. Marcelli leaves Italy in second place with 90 points. The next challenge that the Repsol Honda riders will face will take place in Germany, from July 5-7th.

Toni Bou

Championship: 1st

"It's been a positive weekend as we have achieved many points in the championship. Today was not our day and, in fact, yesterday we were not at 100% either, but we had a very good race. Today it wasn't to be, but the best thing is to be second when things are not going well. I am very happy with the work the team have done today and the points are good for the standings."

Gabriel Marcelli

Championship: 2nd

"Today didn't go particularly well. The first lap wasn't bad, since we were very close to the podium, but on the second lap I started to make mistakes and I didn't know how to get back into it. It took me a lot to turn around the situation and, when I achieved it, it was already too late. You always have to look at the positive side: We were fifth, just one point behind fourth and we also didn't fall behind in the overall standings, so we have to keep going."

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

"Physically, Toni was not at 100%. He started very well until Zone 6, but from there he began to suffer. Without the physical problem he had, I am sure that he would have had a good chance of repeating his victory here in Italy. In any case, being second on such a tricky day is a very good result and he is further ahead in the standings. As for Gabri, he didn't have his best day today. In the second lap, he was able to recover points in the last sections but it wasn't enough to fight for the podium. The positive thing for Gabri this weekend was to keep the second position in the overall. We have three weeks until Germany, so we will work hard to get back to the top."
