The Repsol Honda Team rider is second in the overall standings with 150 points. Champion Toni Bou also targets victory in the season finale.
The 2024 TrialGP World Championship will come to an end this weekend in Ripoll, Spain. Gabriel Marcelli is a contender for the runner-up spot in the series, with Toni Bou having sealed the title last time out.
Marcelli comes into the last round of the season second in the overall standings with 150 points, 7 points behind third placed Jaime Busto. His goal for the double header will be to secure second place -a career best in the competition. He has taken a total of 8 podiums this year.
Bou clinched the title at the previous round in Cahors, France, and the 18-time champion’s next goal is to win both races this weekend, for his tenth and eleventh triumphs of the season.
On Friday the riders will have technical and administrative checks, as well as the inspection of the zones and practice. On Saturday and Sunday the action will start at 9am.
Toni Bou
“This is a weekend with less pressure on us, because we have already achieved the objective for the season, which was to win the title. However, as always, we will give it 100%. It has been a while since we have competed so close to home, so we will enjoy the weekend. With the season still to come to an end, we have a very positive assessment of the year; we have taken a step forward compared to last year and in Ripoll the objective will be to close 2024 in the best possible way.”
Gabriel Marcelli
“I arrive in Ripoll very motivated. The feeling with the bike has been very good lately, and it is a terrain that I know very well, so I hope that this will play in my favour over the two days of competition. It is a weekend in which we will have extra pressure and nerves, but we are prepared and we have done a lot of work throughout the year. The objective is to do a good job and maintain the same level that we have shown throughout the season.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“It's a very important weekend for Gabri in Ripoll, where he will fight to get the runner-up position. For him it is like his ‘home’ race, so the objective will be to get the best possible result. It is a quieter weekend for Toni after winning the title in Cahors, but the mentality and objectives do not change. Overall, the team have worked very well throughout the season and we are very motivated for the final races of the year.”
