Toni Bou holds the lead in the overall standings after the first round of the 2026 season, while Gabriel Marcelli is second.

The 2026 X-Trial World Championship arrives in Madrid on Saturday, October 25th, for the second round of the season. Toni Bou comes to the Spanish capital as the leader of the overall standings after winning the inaugural event of the campaign, held in Andorra. Gabriel Marcelli is second in the standings after a solid performance at the opening round, completing a great start for Repsol Honda HRC.

Bou is the series’ frontrunner and is motivated to stay at the top in his latest indoor world title defence. The Repsol Honda HRC rider has unfinished business at the Madrid Arena, having missed out on the triumph there last time out by the slimmest of margins, and wants to return to winning ways at one of his home rounds.

Marcelli is in great form after securing second place in Andorra, extending the positive momentum with which he closed out the 2025 season. The Montesa Cota 4RT rider is still targeting a first Grand Prix victory, after coming very close to claiming glory at the opening round. Furthermore, he finished fifth in his last appearance in the capital, and his goal will be to improve on that result.

The action on Saturday begins at 6:00 p.m. local time at the Madrid Arena. Repsol Honda HRC face this second round with confidence and determination to defend their lead and fight for another one-two finish.

Toni Bou

Championship: 1st

“We're really looking forward to competing in Madrid. Last time we went there it wasn't the best night for us, but we'll try to do what we did in Andorra. The aim is to qualify directly for the final and fight for the win, but we're clear that the season is very long and that consistency will be important. Physically, I feel better now. I think we did a great job after the first race, and little by little, I'm feeling better.”

Gabriel Marcelli

Championship: 2nd

“I'm feeling very good. The last few races have gone great, and the start to the season in Andorra was incredible, with us fighting for the win until the last section. Now we’ll compete at Repsol's home event, and we're eager to show what we can do. The last time we were in Madrid, I fell just short of the final, so the goal will be to fight for that first win. Our rivals are very strong and won't make things easy for us, because we all want the same thing, but we'll give it our best.”

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

“We're arriving in Madrid in a very good position, with Toni leading and Gabri second, which reflects the great work the entire team are doing. Toni has a lot of confidence after his victory in Andorra, where he was able to show his level at the start of the season, so the goal will be to maintain that momentum this weekend. Gabri is also in great form after his strong result at the first round, and he'll be looking for that first X-Trial win. The team are very motivated, and we want to continue leading the standings.”
