The Repsol Honda Trial Team rider maintains the lead of the X-Trial series after taking second place in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. Teammate, Gabriel Marcelli, finishes fourth

The second round of the X-Trial season took place this Saturday in Austria, and Toni Bou achieved second position in it. The Spanish rider continues to lead the general classification with 38 points. His teammate, Gabriel Marcelli, was on the verge of contesting the final and was fourth in his first visit to Austria.

On the first lap at the Arena Nova, Bou took the lead with a total of 6 points after completing the five zones. Marcelli was third, tied on 7 points with second placed Aniol Gelabert. In the next stage, Bou managed to qualify for the final along with Jaime Busto and Adam Raga, whilst Marcelli missed out after finishing fourth.

After a tight final round with 6 zones, Bou eventually placed second. With this result the Repsol Honda Trial Team rider maintains his lead in the X-Trial World Championship with 38 points. Marcelli is third in the overall standings with 24 points.

The next round of the X-Trial series will take place in Pamplona on March 25.

Toni Bou

“It was a tough night, but we take away the positive that I was able to get on the podium with second place and score points for the championship. We won the first and the second round; it's too bad I had problems in the final round on the second and fourth sectors. We have picked up points and that is important for the championship; our objective at the next round in Pamplona will be to maintain the lead.”

Gabriel Marcelli

“This was a more or less positive weekend, since we did not arrive in the best condition. We achieved fourth place, tying with the rider who was third on the second stage. I would have liked to have reached the final, but we are happy with the work we have done, we have scored points for the championship and we are going to go for more in Pamplona.”

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

“The riders worked very well and we are performing at a very high level this season. It was a shame not to have both of them in the final, but the other riders didn't make things easy for us. We are focused on the next race, where we hope to get good results.”
