Toni Bou proved quickest in the qualifying round ahead of tomorrow’s TrialGP in the Czech Republic. This means Bou sets off from the final starting position in a trial which could see the rider, once again, crowned world champion.

The Repsol Honda Team rider posted the swiftest time on the qualifying lap today in Sokolov, near Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic and will start from the advantageous rear position in the TrialGP main event which takes place tomorrow.

Toni Bou, who was the second rider to get a shot at the qualifying area, positively flew over the rocks to record a scorching 25-second time on the stopwatch. Bou will be looking to monitor and control proceedings from behind as he bids for an eleventh world outdoor title. Rain this afternoon will render the seven-kilometre course in far more delicate conditions than when the riders inspected the sections earlier.

Repsol Honda Team side-kick Jaime Busto let some time slip early in the qualifying lap before securing fourth fastest on the day; some two seconds behind Bou. Takahisa Fujinami, meanwhile, finished in tenth place and will be hoping to improve on this in the fifteen-section, two-lap trial. The Japanese rider will hotly contest third place in the championship, currently occupied by Busto.

I am very happy because I wasn’t able to get the ‘pole’ in the United States, but I didn’t worry much. The important thing is to be able to start with the group at the rear. I will start from the final position, which is very positive for the trial. What matters tomorrow, more than winning the trial on the day, is winning the championship overall and whenever there is a chance to do so, you have to be unforgiving. I'm really looking forward to it; I’ve prepared well and I hope it all goes right on the day. Dry areas would be very easy. I hope that with the rain they complicate things a little more to make a better trial.

The result of qualifying is not a great result, but I’m thinking positively and I hope tomorrow the race will be a bit complicated; something that I think can benefit me. Wet stones and roots can make a trial more difficult. The bad thing is that I will not be able to see how the other riders do, but the important thing is that I have good pace and be in the fight for a good final classification.

Toni did the qualifying round very fast today. The terrain was delicate and I skidded a bit at the beginning, so I lost a few tenths needed for a better ranking, but I will be behind Jeroni Fajardo, which I think is a good reference for tomorrow. The important thing today was to qualify well to start with the group from behind and to have the option of finishing the race with a good result that will allow me to get third place. I hope the rain leaves the areas at a good level.
