Repsol Honda Team rider Takahisa Fujinami today took part in the seventh and final round of the X-Trial World Championship, held in the Laszlo SportArena in Budapest. He did it, however, without the presence of Repsol Honda Team companion and world champion Toni Bou. Bou had sealed the title earlier in Paris, but missed the Budapest date while he recovers from injury.
After making it onto the podium in Paris, ‘Fujigas’ started the qualifying phase of his fifth trail this year with bounding enthusiasm and was able to overcome the six sections. The rider collected just ten penalty points, thus making the cut for the second phase with the day’s third best result.
In the semi-final, a lack of references hampered the Repsol Honda Team rider, who accrued some seventeen penalty points, enough to rule out the possibility of a place in the final. Fujigas finished a credible sixth position.
The season has seen the Montesa Cota 4RT rider go from zero to hero and culminates with eighth overall position in the X-Trial World Championship final season standings. The Japanese rider finishes the season with a total of 28 points.
The next appointment for Repsol Honda Team will be the second round of the Trial des Nations on April 15th in Sigüenza, just one month before the start of the TrialGP World Championship in Camprodón where Repsol Honda Team are scheduled to complete.
Takahisa Fujinami
I had a good qualifying round, finishing in third, but starting from the front in the second round meant that I had few references in the sections and that made it more difficult. I took it one section at a time, but I calculated badly and finally on the second lap nothing went right for me. Overall, I am very happy with this indoor season, although I am better at outdoor. I have continued to improve trial by trial and this has motivated me. Now, on to the outdoor championship.

It's been a strange season to finish here without Toni. First of all, I’d like to congratulate him on his world championship which, as always, has left us speechless. As for Fujinami he has had a notable season, when he has been a wild-card rider and has done a good job, so therefore we are very pleased. It has been a positive season despite the injury of Toni, who we hope gets well soon before the outdoor world championship. Thanks once again, especially to all the members of the team.
