Toni Bou arrives as series leader after two wins in Motegi (Japan). Gabriel Marcelli is third with 32 points.
The TrialGP World Championship goes to Sant Julià de Lòria this weekend, for the second round of the 2024 season. The Andorran town welcomes a motivated Repsol Honda Team after their results from the season opener. Toni Bou is the overall leader with 40 points and teammate Gabriel Marcelli is joint second with 32, level with Adam Raga.
After achieving two consecutive victories at Motegi (Japan) Bou has a perfect record so far this season in X-Trial and TrialGP. Last season he took two victories in the two events held in Sant Julià de Lòria, so the objective will be to repeat the result in Andorra and extend his advantage.
Marcelli is currently joint second, tied on points with Adam Raga. Last season, the Montesa 4RT rider did not have his best weekend in Andorra, and was fifth in the two days of competition. Since the present season got underway, the Galician has not been off the podium in the different disciplines in which he competes.
On Friday, technical and administrative verifications will be carried out, in addition to a visit of areas and training. The action in Andorra will begin on Saturday from 9am.
Toni Bou
“Andorra is always very special for us. We have just had a great start to the season in Japan, something that was very important for the entire team, so the goal is to continue in the same way. Racing at home always means extra pressure, so it will be important to stay focused and give our all on both days. Despite the mechanical problems he had in the first round, Jaime will be one of the rivals during the season, in addition to my teammate Gabri, who has shown that he is very strong this year. Adam has also started very well, so it will be a very tight race and we will have to try to make as few mistakes as possible.”
Gabriel Marcelli
“Last year, Andorra was not my best weekend, but I think this year I arrive better prepared, both technically and physically. I will go out to fight for the victory on both days. We go race by race, but with an eye on the championship, since it will be important to finish ahead of Adam Raga. We have been testing in Andorra in the weeks prior to the competition, we have worked with the entire team and I feel very comfortable with the bike, so we expect a great weekend with good results.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“The weekend in Japan was very good for the entire team and we return to Europe very motivated. We will have two rounds in a row (Andorra and Italy) and the team have been training hard to get the bikes ready. Toni is stronger than ever, and he improves technically every day, so this weekend his goal is to repeat the result from Japan. Gabri is a step up from last year and will look to win in Andorra. We know that the other riders will not make it easy for them, but it is the objective. This year he is very strong and I think he is going to put in a great performance.”
