Bou seeks to extend his lead in the World Championship, and Marcelli dreams of his first TrialGP victory in Japan.

The third round of the 2025 TrialGP World Championship season arrives this coming weekend in Japan. Repsol Honda HRC will compete in their home race at the iconic Mobility Resort Motegi, from May 16-18th. It will be a very special contest for the Japanese team, who will be racing in front of his home fans with the clear objective of keeping on winning and offering a great show.

Toni Bou heads into the event as the championship leader with 160 points, after an impeccable start to the season. The Repsol Honda HRC rider is coming off two consecutive victories at the rounds held in Viana do Castelo (Portugal). Adding to this great form in the outdoor discipline is the victory with which he recently closed out the X-Trial World Championship in Tallinn, Estonia, so this weekend he will be looking to keep up the same pace of great results.

Gabriel Marcelli will be looking to take another step forward at Motegi. The Montesa Cota 4RT rider currently holds third place overall and will aim to fight for his first TrialGP victory. Despite not achieving the expected results at the rounds in Portugal, Marcelli demonstrated his potential at the opening round in Málaga with second and third place finishes, and he will try to regain his momentum and fight for the top spot.

The Mobility Resort Motegi is a special venue for the team, not only because it is Honda’s home race, but also because of the atmosphere provided by the Japanese fans. The activity at the circuit will begin on Friday with technical and administrative checks, followed by practice and a visit to the zones. The two Japanese TrialGP races will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Toni Bou

Championship: 1st

“The Japanese round is one of the most important of the season for the entire team, and we're looking forward to it. We've had a great start to the season, so it's important to try to maintain our pace, and we're well prepared. Last year was incredible, with a double win, but this year will be more difficult because, with two races per day, you're starting from scratch after the first lap. We'll take it step by step and focus on consistency. We're under extra pressure because it's Honda's home round, but experience has taught me that it's better to stay calm, do a good job, and enjoy it.”

Gabriel Marcelli

Championship: 3rd

“Last year in Japan, I achieved second and third places, so this season the goal will be to match or improve on those results. I think that in dry conditions it's terrain that I'm good at, so we're really looking forward to it. The Japanese round always comes with extra pressure because you're racing at Honda's home, where a lot of people come to watch you, and that makes you want to be at your best. The goal will be to be in the fight for the win. I'm feeling good, and we want to give our all.”

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

"Motegi is always a very special event for the entire team. Racing at home, with the support of the entire Honda family, gives us extra energy to do our best. Toni is in great form after a clean sweep of victories in Portugal, and we want to consolidate our lead by reaching the top of the podium. For Gabri, this will be an important race to shake off the feeling he had at the last round in Viana do Castelo, where he didn't achieve his targets. We know he has the talent to fight for victory, and that will be the challenge this weekend. The team are ready, and we're confident we'll do a good job."
