Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli take on the first round in Benahavís, Málaga, from April 4- 6th.

The 2025 TrialGP World Championship will kick off on April 4, with the first round ever held in Benahavís, Málaga. This season, Repsol Honda HRC will aim to fight for the title with both of their riders.

The reigning world champion is Toni Bou, with more than 150 victories in the outdoor discipline. Last season, the Repsol Honda rider achieved 11 victories from 12 events and, just two weeks ago, claimed his 19th crown in the X-Trial World Championship. His goal will be to maintain his streak of good results and continue dominating with his Montesa Cota 4RT.

Gabriel Marcelli will face his fourth season in TrialGP with Repsol Honda HRC. He was runner-up in the outdoor series last year, achieving his best result in the TR1 category. So far in 2025, he has achieved eight consecutive podium finishes between the X-Trial World Championship and the Spanish Championship, and targets his first victory in the premier class and to fight for the title.

The 2025 TrialGP World Championship calendar will feature seven events, including the return of iconic venues such as the United States and Great Britain after several years away. After the double-header race in Malaga, the riders will compete in Viana do Castelo (Portugal), Motegi (Japan), Calvi (France), Baldasserrona (San Marino), Rhode Island (United States), and Geddington (Great Britain).

Regulation Updates for the 2025 Season
The new season brings significant changes to the regulations. The laps of the course will be renamed “races,” and the maximum time allowed in each section will be reduced from 90 to 60 seconds, increasing the intensity and technical demands. Furthermore, championship points will be awarded twice a day, at the end of each race, keeping the fight for the title even more open. There will be only one podium per day, in which the three best riders in the total of the whole day’s competition will be placed on the podium.

In the premier class, the changes will be even more significant, with the introduction of the “Power Section,” which will close each day and feature additional points that participants can earn. Likewise, at selected rounds, the TR1 riders will face the “Super Test Section,” which will determine the starting order.

Toni Bou

"I'm looking forward to the first round because I'm coming off the World X-Trial title win, so we've already achieved our first objective of the season. There are many changes to the regulations this season, and in the first race it will be important to see how we adapt. Anything that brings the sport closer to the spectators is positive, so we're eager to see what the first round in Malaga will be like. It's also the first time it has hosted the outdoor World Championship. The goal is to win another title, which isn't easy because the level is so high, but we'll give our all to achieve it."

Gabriel Marcelli

“In 2025, our main goal is to get our first victory in the TrialGP World Championship. We were close, but in the end, it slipped away. We'll also try to be in the title fight. Toni is very strong, but our goal will be to make things difficult for him and reach the end of the year with a chance of winning the World Championship. There are some regulation changes that could make the races more dynamic, which I think is positive. It's something new for everyone, and we'll see how we do in practice at the first round in Malaga. We've already competed there a couple of times; it's tricky terrain, so it'll be a tough weekend, but we'll give everything that we have.”

Takahisa Fujinami

Team Manager

“This season there will be important changes to the regulations. The time per section is reduced to one minute, and laps will now be “races” with independent points, so we'll see how both Toni and Gabri manage this. This first weekend will be important, so we're coming in eager and highly motivated. The goal for both riders will be to win the title. Toni is coming in very strong, having just won another X-Trial title a few weeks ago, so he'll be looking to continue in the same vein. As for Gabri, he's had a strong run of races, so his goal will be to get his first world championship win and fight for the title.”
