This weekend the tiny village of Comblain-au-Pont is scheduled to host the Belgian TrialGP. Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami will be looking to replicate the podium picked up in the same setting last year.

There will be no rest for Repsol Honda Team Trial. After the Dutch outing last weekend, it’s straight on to the next date in the calendar which this time brings Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami to Belgium. Comblain-au-Pont is the fourth TrialGP date of the season – the fifth trial – and one that brings fond memories for the squad members. On the three previous occasions that the trial world championship has visited the location, Toni Bou has taken the top step of the podium on each one. In last season’s Belgian date, Takahisa Fujinami was alongside on the rostrum in third place.

So far in 2019, Toni Bou has scored four triumphs out four events. Repsol Honda Team’s mission will be to stretch the winning streak yet further in an attempt to secure the championship title as early as possible. An in-form Fujinami will once again have the final podium set firmly in his sights.

14 points clear in the rankings
Toni Bou sits comfortably at the head of the overall championship standings. The Repsol Honda Team rider can rely on a 14-point advantage over his most immediate adversary Adam Raga in second place. Meanwhile, Takahisa Fujinami holds third position with 53 points, some 13 points adrift of the second placed-rider and three ahead of the competitor in fourth.

Saturday in Comblain-au-Pont sees the technical shakedown and the rider section inspection, followed in the afternoon by the qualifying due to finish at 17:45 CET. The winner, that is, the fastest one not to make any mistakes, will start the trial on Sunday from the rear of the field. The main TrialGP event will feature two laps of a fifteen-section course, kicking off at 09:00, although the top-tier riders will be the last to take the start line. The final prize-giving podium is due to take place at 15:45.

STANDINGS: 1st POINTS: 80

We have got good results so far, although in some cases we had to suffer a lot because the rivals are always right there. I think I'm on good form at the moment and I’m riding well and, together with the team, we have to take advantage of this and keep working in the right direction over the coming events. We have hardly had time to rest, but I'm already looking forward to this weekend in Belgium.

STANDINGS: 3rd POINTS: 53

I feel almost better than ever. This year I managed to finish very well in almost every trial and I'm third in the overall standings. I am very happy with my riding. Last weekend's race, although I didn’t feel so comfortable, was a good one, so this weekend in Belgium, I hope that, with some natural trial areas, which are more suited to my style, I will be able to keep getting good results and repeat last year’s podium.
