This coming Friday, Repsol Honda Team rider Toni Bou returns to competition after several days forced rest due to a vertebrae injury. For the X-Trial des Nations competition, Bou will team up with the promising young rider Miquel Gelabert.
X-Trial des Nations – set to take place on Friday in Nice, France – will see Toni Bou once again back in the battle. As a precaution against possible agitation to the vertebral injury, the champion had taken the decision to sit out the final round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship in Budapest. This happened after Bou had mathematically sealed a twelfth world championship crown earlier in Paris.
After twelve days of rest to recover from the fracture to three vertebrae and a damaged rib, the Repsol Honda Team rider is once again able to compete. This final event of the X-Trial season sees riders face each other, this time, however, representing their national teams. Bou will take part in the competition for Spain alongside novice rider Miquel Gelabert.
In Nice’s Palais Nikkaïa, Bou and Gelabert will lock horns with participants from France, Italy, Great Britain and Germany. Spain will be the team to beat in this competition, with the nation maintaining a clean sweep of victories in the history of this unique competition. The X-Trial des Nations kicks off at 20:30 hrs with the competition expected to wrap up at 23:15 hrs approximately.
Toni Bou
These rest days after the X-Trial of Paris have been very positive for me to help recover from the vertebrae injury, I’m very happy. I’m getting better and better as the days go by and I think I should be fit for the X-Trial des Nations, which is always a special event. The goal will be to keep up the run of consecutive victories for the team.
