It was a third consecutive pole position for Repsol Honda Team rider Toni Bou in the qualifying section of the fifth round of 2018 TrialGP World Championship held today in Auron, France. ‘Fujigas’ clocked the day’s fourth best time.
A very upbeat qualifying session for the riders of Repsol Honda Team in France. Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami scored the first and fourth fastest times respectively, establishing well-placed starting positions for tomorrow’s main event.
Toni Bou turned out a high speed display on today’s first qualifying lap. The current champion upped the ante even further on Q2 with the stopwatch showing 29.08 seconds, a time that his adversaries were unable to match.
Takahisa Fujinami looked very comfortable today and finished the qualifying lap with a time of 31.36 seconds. This will enable ‘Fuji’ to attack when he starts out, fourth from the rear, in the main event tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Sunday, sees the trial get underway at 09:30 hrs with the riders set to tackle a total of fifteen sections. The final podium is scheduled to be held at 16:15 hrs.
Toni Bou
I’m happy with this third consecutive pole, and even more so after the way we started the season with two very bad qualification rounds. Today I got through the qualifying section quite fast but even so, in Q2 I was a bit nervous since everything is at play in the final attempt. I felt fast and comfortable, I took some risks but I made it through the sections well. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, I'm sure it will be a trial with few fiascos, so we'll have to stay very focused.
Takahisa Fujinami
I am very pleased because today the qualifying went quite well compared to those of previous races. I feel very positive as we have a really good chance to perform well in tomorrow’s trial, so we will try our hardest to get a result.
